This is primarily the preinstalled applications which will offer vast and varied entertainment out of the box, which will be available on the LeEco Le 1s only after some time. These include movies, live TV channels and a huge category of music through pre-installed apps due to LeEco’ various new tie-ups. Moreover, the Le 1s Eco also offers 10 regional Indian languages and is being touted as the ‘Made for India’ smartphone model. The new Le 1s Eco is a part of the LeEco Membership Programme, which the company announced at the launch event in Mumbai, which is aimed at the expansion of the company’s content ecosystem in India. In this way, the new Le 1s Eco’s launch in India is LeEco’s effort to spread its content ecosystem in this country.
Nevertheless, all other major factors on the LeEco Le 1s Eco are mostly the same as that of the popular Le 1s, and they look exactly identical. On top of these, the very confusing name of the latest device is perplexing the buyers and they can’t figure out which one is what and what they should actually buy. While added content services are there in the new LeEco Le 1s Eco, the buyers still would like to compare the various technical specifications between the two twin devices in order to find out which one is laded better and is worth the investment. There is absolutely no difference between the design and built of the LeEco Le 1s and the new Le 1s Eco. Both the devices are identical in terms of dimensions and weight, i.e. 151.1 mm x 74.2 mm x 7.6 mm and 169 grams, respectively.
Both the Le 1s Eco and the Le 1s also sport the exact same 5.5-inch large high definition IPS display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Thus, in these two categories, the buyers are getting the exact same things, no matter which model they choose to buy, as they look and feel exactly the same in all aspects.
Cameras
In terms of camera specs also, the new LeEco Le 1s Eco is completely similar to its predecessor. Both the twins offer a 13 MP primary camera at its rear that comes with ISOCELL sensor and an LED flash for low-light picture shooting abilities. There is a secondary 5 MP front facing shooter as well which is also exactly the same in both the devices. So, one will also get the same photo snapping capabilities with both these similar sounding phones.
Processor, RAM and Inbuilt Memory
Under the hood, after all we get to see some difference no matter how small. The Le 1s gets powered by a MediaTek Helio X10 octa core SoC processor that ticks at 2.2 GHz, while the new Le 1s Eco gets equipped with an octa core MediaTek Helio X10 chipset that is clocked at 1.85 GHz. Both the phones get the same support of 3 GB of RAM and the same onboard storage of 32 GB, which can’t be extended due to a non-existent microSD slot in both the devices.
Here, we can see that both the phones get the same processor, but the Le 1s Eco has been clocked at lower speed level, although we are not sure if there will be any performance difference because of this slight dissimilarity.
Battery & Add-ons
Again, both the Le 1s Eco and its predecessor Le 1s draw their juice from the identical 3,000 mAh battery pack that offer the convenience of fast charging technology and offer the same back-up time, as they have identical displays. Both the smartphone models also offer dual SIM support, mirror type fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port, scratch-free metallic body and same connectivity options.
Price
Here as well, the new LeEco Le 1s Eco is exactly same as the Le 1s, as they are officially priced same at Rs. 10,999. However, the new Le 1s Eco Price in India is now offered at a discounted introductory price of Rs. 9,999 as a part of its launch offer. So, there is a good 1000 difference between these two budget offerings. Moreover, the LeEco is also offering 1-year free subscription to LeEco Membership on the purchase of the Le 1s Eco. Thus, it’s a better deal.
Conclusion
The new LeEco Le 1s Eco is virtually the same Le 1s Eco with no actual design, spec or feature difference. However, the difference lies in the added services that will come out of the box with the new Le 1s Eco or the ‘Supertainment’ as the company calls it. Plus, there is also the discounted introductory price. So, definitely go for the new one.
