It has just been half a year since the launch of the OnePlus 3, and we already look forward to the new flagship device from the company called the OnePlus 3T. This version of the previous “flagship killer” device is a revamped model that features better performance, a refined camera, and a larger battery. Does this make it flawless for your daily usage? Let’s find out by looking at its specs and features in detail.
Design and Display:
If you are familiar with the OnePlus 3, then you should not expect anything new about the design for this one. You will find little difference between the two devices.
With a screen of 5.5 inches, the device is great to look in the hands. For those who think it has a big screen, there are smart shortcuts (notification tab) to let you access the complete phone screen without the need to adjust your hand. With round edges on the sides and a metallic surface, it surely resists most scuffs and scratches.
Some of you might be annoyed due to the bump in the camera lens, but now the use of sapphire glass increases its durability. Unfortunately, the phone is not water proof or resistance, so better not take it out for a swim when buying one.
Taking a look at the colour variants, the 3Tcomes in 2, namely, gunmetal, and soft gold. This is perhaps the only difference in terms of design from the previous model. But, you should also note that the gold variant is available only in 64 GB and not 128 GB.
The 5.5-inch AMOLED display offers crisp colours. You will find it hard to make out individual pixels in the device which is a good thing. Brightness preferences in the device are also commendable.
Performance:
Coming up to the performance and OnePlus 3T specifications, we can easily say that it is a total beast when it comes to processing. Privileges of the top-of-the-line Qualcomm SnapDragon 821 chipset, it delivers outstanding processing power. Moreover, the provision of 6GB of RAM enables the device to perform without any lags. You will have little to worry about the playing 4K videos or rendering the most intricate graphics on your favourite games.
Even the AnTuTu benchmark score of 164523 is quite impressive and can be compared to latest high-end Apple flagship devices like the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. This benchmark score even exceeds the competitive devices in this range like the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Huawei Mate 9.
Software:
With Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) running in the device, it offers a decent processing system, but you still might be disappointed as it is not the latest one. But, there should be an update of Android Nougat 7.0 as 2016 ends.
UI provided on the flagship device is Oxygen OS, which will enable awesome features that are customizable as to your liking. Android’s predefined apps and stuff will be the major part of the device but the company’s own UI tools also come in handy at times. Just like the previous model, this one comes with a fingerprint sensor as well. And, it does do its job favourably well. Accuracy in the sensor is pretty decent we must say.
Camera and Storage:
OnePlus 3T specifications are further tuned up by improving the camera quality of the device. The upcoming device boasts a camera with enhanced optical image stabilization with a new 16 MP rear camera and front-facing camera.
However, we would not consider it the best when compared to other great phones like the Google Pixel. But, we can still consider the sample photos taken by the camera as impressive. 4K resolution video shooting is also possible in the OnePlus 3T, and there are a number of controls and settings for the photography fanatics as well. The 3T also offers RAW image shooting that is a mode to shoot a very high resolution image.
When it comes to storage, some of you might be let down as the device does not sport an expandable slot. You may either buy a 64 GB or 128 GB variants. So, this could become a problem for the ones who love to stack in a lot of games and other media files.
Battery and Connectivity:
With a 3400 mAh battery, users are likely to get a day worth supply of battery juice. The battery backup is just decent enough and might require charging by the end of the day. Connectivity features comprise of GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C, GPS (with A-GPS), Bluetooth v4.2, Mobile Hotspot, Wi-Fi 802.11, a/ac/b/g/n, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks with dual SIM capabilities.
The Verdict
What the OnePlus offers you is a device that is not only comprising of the latest of features but is also worth a much lesser price. This makes the device worth considering for the ones, who love Android phones with the similar high-end quality and at a much cost-effective price.
Moreover, the OnePlus 3T offers tweaked up features such as 2 16 MP cameras, better performance, and 6 GB of RAM. What else would you want from your dream device currently? The 3T price in India is said to be around Rs. 29,990. Stay updated with our content on its availability really soon.
