The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5c from Apple represent the new versions of the ultra-popular smartphones, recently unveiled to worldwide markets including those in Asia. Tremendous hype was generated before, during, and after their release. Media markets from the United States to India were flooded when the impending release was announced. If you’re going to purchase one of them in India, can you expect the same product and affordability?
Apple iPhone 5S in India
Both devices have the same 4.0 inch, 326 ppi display and 8-megapixel iSight camera so you can take photos of your cherished memories or your new Mustang trunk mats. The iPhone 5S in India is equipped with the 64-bit A7 chip which, according to Apple, is the first of its kind that has been integrated into a smartphone platform. Integrated with the chip is the M7 motion coprocessor. It takes over collection of data from the phone’s accelerometer, compass, and gyroscope to improve the main processor’s efficiency.
The phone also has a fingerprint scanner for the security lock feature, authenticating purchases in the Appstore, and approving app updates. Its high-sensitivity camera can work in low light, with the dual LED flash, and shoot at 10 or 120 frames-per-second. Shipped with iOS 7, the product also comes in three new colors.
For the 16 GB version, the iPhone 5S is priced at about Rs. 50,000 in India, currently equal to about $788 USD. By comparison, the product starts at $199 in the U.S. The phone is available in versions up to 64 GB; it will be sold in India starting in mid-November.
Apple iPhone 5C in India
Integrating the same features as the iPhone 5, the iPhone 5C has a polycarbonate shell and iOS7. It is primarily targeted to markets in Asia such as India and China. Users can also download iWorks apps at no cost, just like with the iPhone 5S, including iPhoto, iMovie, and Keynote apps, and more. It is also anticipated to be released in India by the middle of November, priced at about Rs. 35,000, or about $552 USD. The 16 GB version in the U.S., by comparison, is $99. Pricing for higher capacity versions of both phones will run higher.
More Affordable iPhones Soon to Be Available in India
Both the iPhone 4 and iPhone5 have been discontinued by Apple in the Indian market. Customers in places like India, China, and other markets considered mid-range will now be able to get a lower-priced, feature-packed phone, according to the company. A fast processor, high-speed camera, and, in the case of the iPhone 5S, a fingerprint scanner, bring new features to Apple’s set of iPhones. Consumers in India have to wait until November to get the new phones, but both the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are already highly anticipated products in the region.
